In this article, we will explore the "Lire et Écrire" section and give you tips to succeed easily.
Why is the Reading and Writing Section Simpler?
Compared to the oral section, the Reading and Writing part of the FIDE exam is often seen as relatively easy. The reason? The tasks are very clear and follow a logical structure, which makes it possible to prepare well in advance. Moreover, the maximum level required (Permit C or naturalization) to pass this section is A2 level and not B1 as it is for the oral part. This means that students with a basic knowledge of French can easily pass this test.
Some Practical Details About the Exam
The "Reading and Writing" section lasts about 60 minutes. Before starting, the examiner will present the tasks to you, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Exam Structure: The Modules
The FIDE exam consists of six modules in total, but the Reading and Writing part only involves three modules each time: either modules 1 to 3 (level A1 to A2), or modules 4 to 6 (level A2 to B1). Each module is divided into two tasks: one task of reading comprehension and one task of written production. This allows assessing both your ability to understand texts and to produce simple writings in French.
